A day at Army Market

'Army Market' is another name fot the wet market-cum-hawker centre at Kampong Glam,
Beach Road. The Army market is termed so due to the number of shops selling army related products. It is a haunt for army boys, 'cos that is the place where they can get replacements for their lost accessories, so as to evade punishment. Many army boys will also visit the army market to look for 'stylo-milo' (cool with style) accessories to make them more 'garang' (look heroic ala Rambo), or in order words, Poseur! Since this place has been attracting so many young men on the weekends to visit, the ever blistering business has attracted a lot of retailers selling funky clothings for young men. The stuff here are cheap, good for the lowly paid boys and these boys need new clothes to go 'chiong' (clubbing). All I can say, these boys only got 2 days of precious weekends and a little retail therapy is healing after having their diginity trampled to dust back in camp.

There you have a neat queue of rule abidding recruits who have their jockey caps, crisp smart 4, black shiny Gortex boots, waiting to make payment at a shop known for good deals. It was once my favourite shop during my days. ~ Property of myBE@RBRICK.

More shops at other rows. Don't get lost here. You should better bring your mama here to shop with you! For crying out loud, stop being a 'mama's boy' and make her suffer your army woes with you!! Be a man! ~ Property of myBE@RBRICK.

Badges and more badges. A shop which specialises in badges of all types including rank insignia for our own army. A well-loved place for 'garang' risk-taking hardcore soldiers, as well as 'mat-rockers', not to forget some poseurs. Well, that guy looks quite 'garang'. ~ Property of myBE@RBRICK.
