Exploring Tanjong Pagar, Discovering Icon Villlage, Savouring Griddles Crepes

I was walking around Tanjong Pagar area during last Saturday, before having dinner at "WIENER KAFFEEHAUS", when I discovered ICON Village, a new office, living-cum-retail mall. ICON Village is located beside AMARA Hotel facing the Tanjong Pagar Hawker Centre.

Right image is the showroom of ICON Village. In the showroom, it integrates office and bar in a cool-looking environment. Imagine tapping on the iMacs sitting by the barc counter, while enjoying a Martini.

The tall ICON Village stands out among the shorter buildings especially the nearby Seng Gong Wong Temple opposite the mall. Plenty of the spaces above the retail level, are unoccupied as yet.

The ground level of ICON Village is not very big compared to major retail malls, but they have a few ladies fashion outlets, a couple of massage and nail spas, salon, skincare, TS Video and most importantly budget chow and intermediate-priced restaurants. I find their seats in the main hall interesting; they look like "TETRIS" blocks.

"TETRIS"-like seats lined in the main retail hall.

I discovered this shop selling crepes, waffles and coffee, along the front rows of the building. Griddles Crepes & Coffee serves savoury and sweet crepes, from tuna crepes to roasted duck crepe and kaya crepes to mango crepes; there is a wide range of crepes to choose from at prices ranging from $3.90 to S$7. They serve hot waffles and coffee as well. I had the Apple Allure crepe on my first visit and could not help but return again yesterday for the savoury Roasted Duck crepe.

Apple Allure Crepe
Sweet
S$4
The apple allure crepe is a sweet treat for anyone who loves the apple pie. The soft apple chunks soaked in heavy syrup spiced with cinnamon goes well with the soft crepe. One can choose to top up to make a complete meal with hot beverage and a scoop of ice cream.

Roasted Duck Crepe
Savoury
S$6
Very much like a kebab, except that the fragrant roast duck chunks and lettuce are loosely stuffed in the triangle folds of the crepe.

hi debs,
nice to meet you.
sadly, Griddles has closed. I believe the lunch crowd at Tanjong Pagar prefer aren't ready for something this different.
