Look what I have had! Hawaiian pizza @ Timo

This is my second visit to "Timo: mini italian tastes" which is conveniently located at Maxwell Food Centre (aka Maxwell Market), along South Bridge Road. During my first visit, I tried their Carbonara and gave a moderate but 'definitely worth it' rating. I was recommended to try the beef lasagne by a friendly customer, but I had already decided that I was gonna try the pizza. As on the banner, the pizzas claim to be crisy and the Hawaiian pizza is 'crowned' as a recommended item as well. Let's see if it deserves its 'royal status'.

Do not be deceived by the simple looking stall and young chef. The food served here is definitely of certain standard that you will never get from other western food stalls. Another 'no signboard' subsidary? I guess not. A banner on the left of the stall front, displays their stall name and the menu, from pasta, lasagne and pizza to crepe desserts.

Hawaiian Pizza
S$6.50
A thin crispy pizza base topped evenly with mini pineapple cubes, ham slices and mozarella cheese. Additional grated cheese and chilli flakes are available for diners to add to taste. The thin crust lives up to its claim of being crispy as it breaks and crumbles like crackers with every bite. The tomato base on the crust also adds flavour to the pizza altogther.

Verdict
Just by looking how the cheese stretches, you should know that Timo is not trying to shortchange you with poor quality cheddar cheese. Baked to the right level, the cheese is not overly burnt. I like the small pineapple cubes which are bite-sized and does not overpower the taste of the pizza. Sprinkle some chilli flakes and more grated cheese, adds more punch to the pizza. The pre-cut pizza makes the job easier for the customer. The cheese hold the ingredients properly in place and makes holding a slice up a non-messy affair. The thin crispy crust that breaks off like biscuit is really something different from other pizza joints. I love it. Must try!
