EATZ: Megabites Cafe @ NUS Science Faculty

I met up with Edna for lunch for a little belated Christmas gift exchange. Instead of having her visit me always at Holland Village, I might as well pop over to MEGAbites Cafe at NUS Science Faculty, which opened after I left NUS as a staff. I really missed my time in NUS where I had really nice colleagues and students. Most importantly, I miss the food at Science and Business Faculty canteens!

MEGAbites Cafe
NUS Science Faculty
The joy of dining at MEGAbites Cafe is the clean environment compared to the Science canteen which is just beside MEGAbites. It does not bug me that much, but I like the idea that this cafe is enclosed in an air-conditioned environment. They serve a variety of Western food, from pizzas, pastas to grills and chops. The best part is that the prices are a knock-out! Even though slightly pricier than the western food in the canteens, you can get a set meal complete with soup for under S$5! Campus food prices ROCKS! So with cheap prices, does it compromise quality?

Soup
A creamy 'Campbell' soup that can easily go wrong being down-watered too much, but MEGAbites has done it well!

Chicken Chop
A huge slab of juicy chicken chop grilled to the right level drowned with brown sauce, served with mash, cauliflower and carrots. Other can possibly go wrong with undercooked chicken tasting raw, but MEGAbites had done it well. The sauce was actually not too overwhelming and went well with everything.

Chicken Cutlet
The breaded chicken cutlet is fried to a nice golden crisp, drizzled with special homemade BBQ sauce, served with mayo salad and fries. The crispy exterior crust and juicy tender interior meat deserves double thumbs up!

Verdict
The food at MEGAbites are actually damn good! Furthermore, they are halal and can cater to all Muslim friends. Kudos to the canteen prices! If you can find anywhere with better prices and better quality? You must be living in your dreams! MEGAbites is open to all including non-NUS staff or students. Those who drop by NUH can also visit MEGAbites, if you know how to walk there.
