EATZ: YhingThai Palace

Located at the end of "Hainan street" (Purvis Street) of Singapore, "YhingThai Palace" is one glamorous restaurant that serves Thai food instead of "Hainanese Chicken Rice" or "Hainanese Pork Chop". Purvis Street is a foodie's haven lined with eateries from budget such as "Chin Chin Eating House" or "2nd Hainan Street Restaurant" for traditional Hainanese food or "Beef Noodles" at "Hock Lam Street Popular Beef Kway Teow", mid-range, mid-range Western food at "Miss Clarity Cafe" and also the more expensive but finer Italian food at "Garibaldi Italian" or even French cuisine at "Gunther's".
From the outside, "YhingThai Palace" entice passers-by with the glamorous, rich and cosy ambience, and of course, the platters of scrumptious looking food surrounded by well-dressed diners, served by Thai waitresses in their traditional costumes. During this festive season, they have prosperity set meals for groups, but we decided to go a la-carte.

Starters
Mango Salad
A very traditional Thai style fruit salad using unripened green mangoes. The shredded mangoes are shredded and tossed with some peanuts and cuttlefish floss, in a tangy sweet sauce.

a la carte
Pineapple Rice
The thai-style Pineapple rice is served with fresh shrimps, chunks of pineapples and sprinkled with pork floss.

Roast Duck Red Curry
Duck meat cooked in a spicy red curry.

Thai Green Curry with Chicken
Juicy tender chicken thigh chunks simmered in a spicy and a rich green curry.

Stuffed Chicken Wings
De-boned chicken wings stuffed with chicken meat, mushrooms and asparagus, fried to a golden brown.

Fish Maw Soup
A single serve of a tasty gravy with three chunks of fish maw and some shredded scallops. A good alternative to sharks' fin soup.

Verdict
The bill came up to S$217 including a baby kailan dish (not shown). The food is rather pricy but the quality of the food is excellent. However, I was not singing praises for the tastes as I have had better tasting identical dishes even at Wedding banquets. I particularly loved the stuffed chicken wings. Nevertheless, "YhingThai Palace" is a nice restaurant for family or friends gatherings.

Yeah I think is rather expensive especially the pineapple rice a small plate for $30. The fish maw soup was my favourite.

the fish maw soup was good, could have been better if they added crab meat? preferably mud crab!
