Ever wanted to have Chinese delicacies such as abalone, sea cucumber, bird's nest or shark's fin (no shark's fin for me) everyday? You can if you like, if you are rich! But I can if I want when they are darn cheap!
Rabbit Brand Seafood Delicacies is not an eye-catching shop along Circular Road which is behind Boat Quay, but it does have the cheapest Chinese delicacies, cooked in restuarant-style and served to you at the cheapest price!
Do check out the menu below on how you can have a full sized braised abalone at only S$10.90 or "Buddha Jump Over The Wall" at only S$9.50!

Shishamo
S$2.10 (4 pcs)
Four pieces of 'pregnant' fish or shishamo, slightly battered and deep fried till crispy.

SET C
Braised Shark's Fin in Claypot
S$6.50
Set C comes with braised shark's fin, fish maw and shredded shiitake mushrooms in a claypot stewed in a heavy sauce. Served on the sides, is a small plate of blanched beansprouts and rice. This set comes with a white fungus with longan dessert.

SET E
Tom Yam Sea-Cucumber
S$5.50
Sea-cucumber and fish maw cooked in a claypot of very strong and spicy tom yam soup. This set is served with rice and dessert.

SET B
Baby Abalone in Sauce
S$8.50
Four pieces of bite-sized baby abalones cooked with three full shiitake mushrooms and vegetables in a thick heavy braised sauce. This set is served with rice and dessert.

Verdict
The price at Rabbit Brand Seafood Delicacies is on par with most of the local Chinese cooked food stalls, but damn cheap for Chinese delicacies! The reason for them selling these delicacies so cheaply is because of "wholesale". I did not have the shark's fin and I discourage consumption of shark's fin. I would anytime pick abalone over shark's fin. However, I was rather disappointed by the bite-sized delicacies. The fish maw comes in tiny bits which you can hardly feel the texture when chewing on a spoonful. Nevertheless, I cannot expect too much at the ridiculously cheap price that I am paying. The sauces are not as tasty compared to restaurants, but complement well with the delicacies. Chinese tea is free-flow. The desserts are usually standardized dessert-of-the-day. Our dessert was "White Fungus with Logan". Worth the try but nothing to shout about.
