Creation Cafe at Shaw Lesiure Gallery is one small cafe that is always crowded, simply because over the years, they have been great-tasting pasta at affordable prices. The different variations of pasta can be ordered at a-la-carte or as set meals. A-la-carte pasta costs around S$10, while set meals range from S$11.20 (lunch), S$13.90 (dinner) to S$15.90 and includes mushroom soup, drink and dessert. Diners also get a choice of pasta of either spaghetti, linguine, fusilli, penne, mushroom ravioli (add S$3).

Carbonara

Penne with sausage, ham and bacon bits in very heavy cheese cream sauce.
Seafood Laksa Cream Sauce

A mussel, pieces of squid and baby scallop with two pieces of shrimps, tossed with linguine in heavy laska cream sauce.
Desserts
Brownie and Apple Pie with Ice-Cream

Warm and thick slabs of brownie and apple pie, topped with a generous scoop of vanilla ice-cream and sprinkled with crushed peanuts.
Verdict
The pastas at Creation are definitely worth its affordable price. I was initially quite surprised that the "Carbonara" is not served in a pool of cream sauce and looks rather dry. Nevertheless, the heavy cheese cream sauce is very tasty, but I would prefer a stronger taste of burnt bacon bits. The "Seafood Laksa Cream Sauce" is a unique local twist of the usual "Seafood Marinara" where the pasta sauce is made using laksa paste and heavy cream sauce. The taste of laksa is not too over-whelming to mask the taste of the cream and linguine. Though the portion can look deceiving small, the heavy cream sauce does makes the portion just right for an individual and finishing the dessert might just be a problem. Needless to day, the desserts are great as well especially when the vanilla ice-cream starts to melt over the warm walnut brownie or apple pie.
You must really try out Creation at Shaw Leisure Gallery, if you haven't done so! You will not be disappointed.
